How to Host a Fall Party
I'm sure the verdict is in and Fall is the most loved season of all. The weather, the Fall leaves, the morning sun, the gorgeous sunsets, the crisp air are just a few things people cherish this time of year. And what's better than those things you ask? Well, gathering with family and friends and enjoying the sights, sounds, and tastes of Fall together of course. And what better way to do that than to host a Fall party. Here are 4 ways to enjoy your peeps and this season all at the same time.
FOOD
First item on the checklist would be, "what am I going to have for dinner". Food is always a must...it's fun to sit around and eat good comfort food with all the people you love and NOT count calories or points...right? You could pick a theme and have everyone bring a dish to pass. This is the easiest on you and a fun way to get a variety of items to eat. It's also a fun way to try new recipes and then maybe even snag them for a later date. These themes could include a chili bar, a potato bar, taco night, everyone could bring their favorite soup and sandwiches, or you could do a tailgate theme or ethnic foods. The possibilities are endless and yummy.
Of course, if you want your party to be more formal, you can plan and cook all the food yourself. This option would maybe have you gathering around your table and eating family style. There's something much more intimate about sitting at the table with your friends or family and breaking bread together. The food might include a nice salad, a roast, potatoes, and roasted vegetables with a sweet dessert and coffee to follow. Ahhh, just the sound of that sounds so fun and cozy!
TABLESCAPES
Speaking of tables. It would be so fun to dress your table for the occasion. You could incorporate vintage linens that maybe have been handed down from Grandma or Great Aunt Ethel (I think this always makes dinners so special) and lots of candles. Or another option would be to use one of our runners in the store. You could even add fresh gourds and pumpkins...no need to go crazy...keeping things simple could also help with your sanity and help you enjoy your guests more.

ICEBREAKERS
Whether your party is formal and at the dinner table or sitting around a bonfire in lawn chairs, conversation could make or break the night. How about getting the ball rolling with a fun simple game? If you're gathered around your table here is a quick fun way to add laughter to your party. I found this game called "Discretion" on Pinterest. The basic gist of the game is to slip a small piece of paper under each dinner plate with a crazy phrase written on it...and then as conversation gets going people have to discreetly work their phrase into the conversation. How.fun.is.that. I am certain people will start to relax and ya'll will have no problem getting the party started.
Here's another idea for a more informal setting. Print off a handful of conversation starters on small slips of paper...for instance..."Use 3 words to describe yourself" or "If you could watch any movie over and over what would it be" or "What was your favorite gift you ever received"...you get the idea! This is maybe a good option when you want to keep the mood light and steer clear of main stream media topics!
ATMOSPHERE AND AMBIANCE
Along with guests, food, the place you choose to have your party, and conversation starters...you will want to consider the atmosphere and ambiance your home or environment is presenting. Some things you might add to create intimacy is candles or twinkle lights. If your party is more upbeat and crazy, music might be an option! Also, make sure you have enough comfortable seating for all who attend your party! We have a wonderful selection of battery timer pillar candles as well as taper candles to give your home a nice warm inviting feeling.
